This is one of the occasions where I felt like I immediately connected with a couple. I guess, more like a couple of individuals. Taylor and Rob are totally laid back, creative, honest, considerate and refreshingly intelligent. Their wedding at Southern Oaks on October 7, 2017 absolutely reflected those same qualities.
Brittany Eagans of EK Event Design spent the morning sculpting the aesthetic on the grounds, as April Scapin of Classy Styles Hair and Makeup Artistry prepped her tools. The girls of the bridal party started to arrive, along with Taylor. My partner Jen Angel arrived to the hotel where Rob and the groomsmen were getting ready, and she hung with them for a little while. It was a very smooth and relaxed morning. As the day progressed, I was getting more excited for the first look, it was sweet and emotional. Rob and Taylor let me swing them around the venue, getting to shoot in these lush, gorgeous landscapes.
The ceremony flowed perfectly, with both the bride and groom exchanging tears and laughter. They used sunflowers as their primary floral, and gifted bundles of sunflower seeds to each guest. It was a warm day to say the least, but we were so thankful that the rain kept away. Simply Gourmet did an incredible job with the catering and Jamaal of Jam All Day played all their favorites, including The Time Warp. These lovely people also chose to have cookies as their dessert, and they were inventive and delicious, done by Create Bakery and Gifts. Thank you Jen Angel for your talented shooting skills and stamina.
Something I noticed about this couple and their guests was a significant closeness. And not just because a good portion of the guest list was Rob’s family. Even with the friends that were present, it was total family. There was a connection in this group that was undeniable. It was a pleasure to witness and document. Thank you two.
