I was born in Lexington Kentucky, but I moved away with my mom to Florida when I was 2 or 3 years old. I went back to visit family many times as a child, but I haven’t seen this place since I was 14. When my Dad picked me and my wife up from the airport, he explained that Lexington gains its income from primarily two sources: horses and college basketball. These are really two things with which I don’t have much experience, especially the latter. I wanted to shoot outside of Florida, get a little perspective, see some type of beauty to which I am unaccustomed. We went to Keeneland, which is a world famous horse track and very surreal experience. My Aunt Molly joined us, she is hilarious. She and my Dad filled us in on personal stories and thematic anecdotes. Hayley had never been to a track of any kind at all, and she won her first bet! We explored downtown, saw some art, and I really tried to take in both Lexington’s own history as well as my personal history with this city. We also explored in an incredible arboretum. That place demands its own view space, so it will be featured in the next blog. I didn’t get into any basketball.
