My ultra-adventurous wife celebrated her 35th birthday this year in an open air biplane, touring Sarasota. When I originally made the arrangements, the plan was for her to fly like a bird in the sky – alone. Like, with the pilot, but definitely not with me in the aircraft. I am a terrible flyer (occasionally crying and gripping others in commercial jets) and this was not something I would ever consider doing. But when I spoke with the pilot, Nathan, he was very encouraging and asked me if my wife had a say (this was a surprise birthday adventure), would she want me to be there with her? I knew she would so I agreed, and I made a decision to not be afraid. Hayley and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone. There is nothing quite like it. Our pilot even swung us around on the plane’s side so we could see everything below, and he dropped us a few times which I thought would be terrifying but it was tremendous. And it’s shockingly hot up there, so if you do go, dress lightly.
There are few things I love more than watching Hayley experience new things. She makes the best faces. And she truly lives in the moment.
