We had the opportunity to photograph newborn baby twin girls. Super incredible. Their mama contacted us before they were born and said that she wanted something different, and she liked our style. We haven’t photographed a ton of babies, but really loved the visual capacity that was afforded with twin girls! We wanted it to be a little less cute and cuddly than what we have seen, and really suit the aesthetic of their parents. Richeal, their stunning mother, has a little bit of an edge and was so trusting and open to what we envisioned. John was so welcoming and interested in our process. Hayley built a layered light box that we filled with real flowers and also layers of peeled purple cabbage. I knew I wanted florals in the images, but I wanted them to be a little more rich and deep in their colors. We light the lightbox from below so the light would travel through the organics and envelope the girls. Their pup Maverick was a big help with clean up duty. John’s mom knitted the babies some adorable hats and we got some lovely shots of the girls in them. We invaded their home for a full Sunday afternoon, and it was a really great experience. I adore how distinct these photographs feel, really documenting this time in Bridget and Keira’s life. They will look so different in no time at all. One of my favorite shots is of Richeal and John, each holding a baby in one arm, on the florals. To see John’s thumb just so enormous in comparison to his daughter’s hand is so sweet. I loved this shoot!
